The College CoPilot ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of students, parents, and all users of our platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information in compliance with applicable laws, including COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) and FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act).

2. Information We Collect

We collect only the minimum information necessary to provide our service:

• Account information (name, email address)
• Educational information (grade level, school, target college, degree path)
• Academic progress data (completed tasks, journal entries, portfolio items)
• Sports and activity information (for workload scheduling)
• Communications with Orion AI (for personalized tutoring)

3. COPPA Compliance

For users under 13 years of age, we require verifiable parental consent before account creation. Parents must create or approve the student account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent.

4. How We Use Your Information

• To generate and maintain your personalized 4-year academic plan
• To power the Orion AI tutor with relevant context
• To send notifications about deadlines and progress
• To generate reports for students, parents, and counselors
• To improve the platform (aggregated, anonymized data only)

We never sell your data. We never use student data for advertising.

5. Data Sharing

Student data is shared only as follows:

• With parents/guardians who have been granted access by the student
• With counselors or teachers who have been invited and approved by the parent
• With third parties only when required by law

6. Data Retention & Deletion

You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time. Both students and parents can initiate account deletion from the Settings page. Upon deletion, all personal data is permanently removed within 30 days.

7. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), secure authentication, and access controls. All files are stored in encrypted cloud storage.
